Copenhagen, JAN 23, 2003 (newstodate): Maersk Logistics has signed an agreement with IKEA, expanding the co-operation within logistic solutions.
Under the contract, Maersk Logistics will manage IKEA's new Distribution Centre and Customer Distribution Centre in Torsvik, Sweden.
Maersk Logistics expects to increase square meters operated from 90,000 to 210,000 in 2003.
The distribution centre provides goods manufactured in the Nordic region for stores in the Nordic region and North America, while the customer distribution centre will be used for direct deliveries to customers in the Nordic region.
Combined, the two centres will have a warehousing capacity of 216,000 m3, while the volume throughput is estimated at 1,400,000 m3.
