Copenhagen, JAN 27, 2003 (newstodate): SAS Cargo will kick-off a new European express product named SAS Courier on February 10.
The product will be sold and marketed in key European markets by some 10 selected general courier agents, GCAs, a SAS Cargo official said.
For SAS Cargo, the product will be airport-airport, while the selected GCAs will add own infrastructure in their markets to provide further door-door services. The aim is to make the new product competitive against the integrators that are, however, also expected to be among SAS Courier's potential customers.
The gradual expansion of the new product builds on SAS' direct flights between Scandinavia and key European destination.
According to the spokesman, the first destinations to be served will include Copenhagen, Stockholm, Brussels, and Amsterdam. Soon after, London will be added, and next in line are Oslo, Helsinki, and Moscow.
From the outset, SAS Courier will go on direct flights only, but transfer flights, including SAS' partners, will be added at a later stage, bringing further European of cities and markets within reach, the spokesman said.
