OCT 30, 2003 (newstodate): By November 2, Finnair will transfer a second ATR-72 aircraft to its Estonian subsidiary, Aero Airlines.
The aircraft will be operated by Aero Airlines on Finnair's domestic route network in Finland based on a permission by Finnish and Estonian aviation authorities for the wet-lease of the aircraft.
-Finnair has launched measures to improve the profitability of Finnish domestic routes as well as ensuring their continuity. A part of these
measures is the division of tasks between the parent company and Aero. The agreement along with the permit from the authorities enables this, says
Henrik Arle, Finnair COO and SVP Scheduled Passenger Traffic.
The arrangement remains in force until May 1, when Estonia becomes a member of the EU. During the six-month agreement, the aircraft remains
under Finnish registration.
Aero plans to acquire a further two aircraft by next summer.
