OCT 13, 2003 (newstodate): Kazakhstan airline Air-Astana has now taken possession of the first of three Boeing 757-200 aircraft planned to enter the fleet before February, 2004.
The airline's focus is currently on openming up international flights, but a fleet of turboprop aircraft will be added to build up domestic servicces as well.
-This is only the first stage of our development. I hope that the next stage of our development will be the development of domestic air routes from March next year, says Lloyd Paxton, Air-Astana president.
According to Kazakhstani authorities, air travel is up 63 percent this year in terms of tickets sold.
