OCT 09, 2003 (newstodate): In September, Finnair Cargo saw its total cargo volumes up 3.4 percent over last year.
-We are quite pleased by our September volumes. The limited growth is mostly due to the decrease in freighter capacity, as we are comparing last year's capacity on our "own" Evergreen freighters with the new service in cooperation with Emirates SkyCargo, says Timo Riihimki, Finnair Cargo director marketing.
-In September, cargo volumes carried in scheduled passenger traffic increased by 21 percent. Cargo on Finnair's Asian routes were up 34,5 percent, on the North-Atlantic routes, excluding freighters, volumes were up 29,7 percent, while cargo on inter-European routes was up by 10 percent, he says.
