OCT 17, 2003 (newstodate): Icelandic ACMI provider Islandsflug plans to add a second A310-300F freighter to its fleet.
-We have identified the aircraft, and it will probably join our fleet by the end of October or by November at least, says Einar Birgisson, Islandsflug manager.
-The A310 freighter is very flexible and cost-economic, has a good range of 3,200 nm and a high payload at 39 tonnes, which makes it suitable both for regional and medium-long routes, Birgisson says.
Islandsflug's current A310-300F operates for TNT, and in addition the airline has four A300-600F freighters, flying under ACMI agreements for Air France Cargo, DHL, Air Hong Kong, and TNT.
Islandsflug also operates a total of nine passenger aircraft on ACMI contracts with passenger airlines.
