OCT 30, 2003 (newstodate): Effective from November 17, SWISS WorldCargo has announced an "extensive agreement" with Polar Air Cargo.
Under the agreement, Swiss WorldCargo will purchase capacity on Polar's Boeing 747 freighters on flights between Switzerland, Asia and the United States.
Thus Swiss WorldCargo will carry cargo on Polar's three weekly scheduled-service flights between Zurich, Switzerland, and Penang, Malaysia, via Delhi, India.
The agreement also comprises flights to the United States in each direction. Swiss WorldCargo will be able to purchase capacity on several existing Polar trans-Atlantic flights serving New York, Chicago from and to Liege, Belgium, and beyond to Zurich, as well as from Atlanta, via Liege to Zurich.
-As announced in July, Swiss WorldCargo is eagerly looking to make up for reduced capacity as a result of a smaller Swiss network. Today we have set a keystone of our replacement program covering both the North American and Asian market with additional capacity to meet our customers' needs. Now we can supplement our product with main-deck cargo capacity through our partner, Polar Air Cargo, one of the leading scheduled full-freighter operators, says Oliver Evans, SWISS WorldCargo executive VP.
