NOV 14, 2003 (newstodate): Latvian carrier airBaltic received its first leased Boeing 737-500 aircraft on Thursday and is now preparing it for entry into service.
The first flight will be on November 24 from Riga to Copenhagen, which will first be served by the new aircraft, that will later be introduced on other major routes as well.
-airBaltic plans to add more Boeing 737 aircraft in the future, but no exact dates or number have yet been finalised, says Vija Dzerve, airBaltic communications manager.
airBaltic has also announced the signing of a code-share agreement with Belarus airline Belarus for the route between Riga and Minsk, opened by airBaltic in August this year.
The code-share involves passenger sales only, air cargo is not included, the airline says.
