NOV 26, 2003 (newstodate): Czech airline CSA is currently finalising a major strategy for expansion and modernisation of its aircraft fleet.
As part of the process, representatives from Boeing and Airbus met with the CSA board earlier this month.
CSA wishes to investigate the possibilities for realizing its plans of modernizing and expanding its fleet directly with the manufacturers. Especially the time frame for delivery of the required aircraft equipment will be discussed, the airline says.
-For the time being we are focussing on the proposals. We will plan a tender only after detailed consultation with the Supervisory Board and after the CSA strategy is approved. We need to discuss with the manufacturers whether our requirements can be realized within the time frame we wish to define in the development strategy, says Captain Peter Jusko, CSA Vice-President for Flight Operations.
-The tender will have several rounds. Initially, we will be closely comparing aircraft quality and other standard parameters as they meet the needs of CSA. In the final round, the price advantages of the offers presented by both manufacturers will be decisive. The more advantageous an overall offer for CSA will be the winner, he says.
