NOV 19, 2003 (newstodate): The Icelandair Group subsidiary Loftleidir, set up in May, has had a difficult start, according to latest nine-months interim report from the Group.
-The operation of Loftleidir, which operates charter flights on the international market, has been worse than anticipated at the beginning of this year. The second part of the year, however, fueled increased optimism, and it is anticipated that the operating results over the last six months of the year will cut even, the report reads.
Loftleidir currently wet-leases four Boeing 757 aircraft and one Boeing 767 operated under Icelandair's AOC from bases in North and Central America, Europe and Africa.
One Boeing 757 aircraft is operated for the West African airline, SNA on its route between London and Freetown via Banjul in Gambia. A Boeing 767-300 is operated by TAP, Portugal.
