NOV 12, 2003 (newstodate): Embraer confirms that SWISS has asked for postponement of its firm order for Embraer 170 and 195 aircraft.
The aircraft producer now pins its hopes on other airlines to utilize SWISS' production slots in the short term.
In March this year Embraer confirmed that SWISS was reducing its firm orders for Embraer 170 and Embraer 195 aircraft from a total of 60 to 30, 15 of each model.
The Embraer 170 was planned for entry into SWISS service by August 2004 of the first four aircraft, followed by eight in 2005 and the remaining three in 2006.
Deliveries of the Embraer 195 was planned to start in 2006.
Embraer still forecasts a total of 160 aircraft to be delivered in 2004.
