NOV 07, 2003 (newstodate): Lufthansa Cargo is seeing the volume of e-bookings growing significantly, and remains confident of reaching its strategic tagets by 2005.
Lufthansa Cargo has stated that by 2005 e-bookings should comprise 60 percent of all bookings, 35 percent should go through call centres, while only five percent should be processed through traditional services including telephone and fax messages.
In 1999, all bookings were processed through traditional services.
-In the German market, e-bookings now account for almost 40 percent, says Nils Hald, Lufthansa Cargo, head of corporate communications.
According to Mr Hald, the 40 percent share has still not been achieved globally, but hopes are to meet this level "soon".
-We will probably realise the 2005-target ahead of schedule, but this is of course difficult to predict. What we do see is an increasing use of e-booking by our customers. This proves that customers accept electronic bookings more and more, Nils Hald says.
