DEC 19, 2003 (newstodate): Amidst a major financial restructuring to clear its debts, Wiggins Group is striving to seek fresh cash to support its PlaneStation strategy.
The British Wiggins Group has earlier detailed a plan to set up around 20 regional airports in Europe within its PlaneStation network.
In addition to one airport, Odense, in Denmark, Wiggins planned to seek contracts with two airports in Sweden, two in Norway, and one in Northern Finland.
In Portugal, Wiggins planned to include Alentejo Airport, and in Spain Salamanca Airport.
Also comprised by the strategy were three airports in France (in Normandy, Bordeaux and Southeastern France), two ex-US Air Force bases in Germany, a total of seven airports in Italy, two airports in Poland, one airport in Croatia, and one in the Czech Republic.
In addition, Wiggins would seek about 10 regional airports "elsewhere", including the USA where Smyrna Airport near Nashville is already within the network.
Wiggins' and PlaneStation's first airport was Manston Airport, near London.
