MAR 20, 2003 (newstodate): Air Atlanta today signed a lease contract with GECAS (General Electric Capital Aviation Services) comprising four Boeing 747 freighters.
The agreement brings the airlines fleet to 27 aircraft. The new planes will increase the Companys turnover by 84 million dollars per year, and create 100 new jobs, a company spokesman says.
The four new aircraft will boost Air Atlantas cargo fleet to six aircraft, and increase the capacity from 216 tons to 648, or 300%. Air Atlanta is aiming for a larger share in cargo market and estimates to increase this part of the operations by 35 to 50% per year for the next 5 to 6 years. To meet this target the airlines must add two to three aircraft each year after 2004, the spokesman says.
