APR 16, 2003 (newstodate): Foreign airport operators will soon be invited to take part in a tender for commercial operations of Bulgarian airports, Bourgas and Varna Airports on the Black Sea Coast.
-The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications's strategy includes the identification of a qualified strategic partner through a competitive tender process to manage, invest in and develop the Bourgas and Varna Airports, says Albena Ignatova, Senior Expert Bulgarian State Property Directorate.
-Qualified bidders shall be internationally experienced operators of similar or larger airports with sufficient financial resources and a successful track record of developing and managing airport operations and infrastructure to international standards, says Ignatova.
Ignatova says the tender documents are currently being prepared, pending the decisions on the official tender procedure.
-In a few months we expect the Council of Ministries to announce the tender procedure in the Official Gazette, and the candidates will be invited for prequalification, says Ignatova.
