APR 08, 2003 newstodate): Coyne Airways expects cargo volumes on its freighter service Sakhalin-Seoul-Sakhalin to increase this year.
-As Sakhalin Island and the sea around it is pretty much frozen from October to March, peak activity tends to take place April to September, so we hope to see the increase from next month, says Jon Southgate, Coyne Airways Development Manager.
Since July 2002, Coyne Airways has operated an Antonov 12 aircraft on the route thrice weekly. The service was built on a basis similar to the company's scheduled service to the Caspian Sea/Central Asia regions.
-Incheon International airport is a natural hub for consolidating shipments from around the world before feeding them into Sakhalin. The high frequency of flights to Incheon grants the forwarders many options to connect with the AN-12. In addition, we have Interline agreements with other carriers, and can therefore accept bookings from many points in the USA, Europe and S.E.Asia for example, and move the cargo under one through Airwaybill, says Southgate.
