APR 16, 2003 (newstodate): DHL has set up a new daily route between Vaasa, Finland, and Stockholm.
The new international flight will serve the Stockholm-Vaasa-Oulu-Vaasa-Stockholm route, replacing the current Helsinki-Vaasa-Jyvskyl-Helsinki-flight.
By routing shipments from the western part of Finland directly into DHL's network at Stockholm rather than flying via Helsinki, the new connection will allow import and export firms on Finland's west coast to deliver and receive shipments to and from anywhere in Europe the following day.
DHL has contracted Swedish carrier, West Air Sweden to operate the new route with an ATP freighter offering some 6 tonnes of cargo capacity.
