APR 08, 2003 (newstodate): Exel has landed a contract with Bayer Diagnostics, a leading providers of equipment for medical diagnostics, to manage airfreight movements from the US into the UK, and provide warehousing and order fulfilment services for Bayer Diagnostics' customers in Northern Europe.
Exel will handle materials from around 80 US suppliers to the customer's manufacturing operations in the UK. Exel will provide customs clearance at Heathrow, and delivery service.
Under a separate five-year contract, Exel will support Bayer Diagnostics' European distribution from its existing multi-user healthcare facility in Nijmegen, The Netherlands.
In preparation for onward delivery by preferred carriers to Benelux, Germany, Scandinavia, the UK and across Eastern Europe, Exel will also provide value added services including returns management and kitting.
Exel expects to manage over 2,000 orders per day from this facility.
