APR 24, 2003 (newstodate): SAS sustains its interest in acquiring Danish carrier Maersk Air's stake in the shares of Estonian Airlines.
After SAS has withdrawn from bidding on 34 percent of the shars of Lithuanian Airlines, the airline confirms its sustained interest in taking over from Maersk Air's 49 percent of the shares in Estonian Airlines.
-Estonia is the single most important market in the three Baltic countries, and while there are currently no direct negotiations going on between the parties we have been in contact and yes, we are interested, says Hals Ollengreen, SAS sen vp communication & public affairs.
SAS already holds 49.2 percent of the shares in the third carrier in the Baltic region, airBaltic.
