MAY 19, 2003 (newstodate): Amidst a torrential rain of depressing news in the air cargo industry, Dragonair has sent out a release reflecting a positive growth in cargo volumes.
In April, the airlines three freighters carried 11,870 tonnes of cargo, up 2.27% from the previous month. The total amount of cargo carried by Dragonair in April was slightly lower, however, due to the reduction in cargo belly space resulting from the scaling back of the airlines passenger services.
-Global demand for the goods produced in the worlds manufacturing base of the China mainland continues to drive the engine of trade in these difficult times, says Dragonair.
Hong Kong-based Dragonair operates a fleet of nine A330-300s, four A321s and eight A320s, in addition to three Boeing 747-300 freighters.
