MAY 06, 2003 (newstodate): Talks are underway to ease border crossing c ongestion for trucks on the Lithuanian/Polish border.
If necessary ,the talks will be taken to presidential levels, Lithianian press reports.
In April the Lithuanian Border Guard Service conducted a study to assess the crossing procedures on the Kalvarija border checkpoint. The result shows that vehicles have to endure long waits because the Polish customs officers check groups of 40-50 vehicles at a time.
More than 700 trucks leave Lithuania, and more than 1,000 trucks enter Lithuania via the checkpoint every days, the study shows.
