MAY 15, 2003 (newstodate): From May 20, Danish cargo GSA, Maersk Air Cargo will launch the third step in the on-going marketing campaign among airfreight forwarders in the three Baltic states.
Maersk Air Cargo set up own office at Tallinn in January this year, headed by Eve Miller.
-It does take time to enter a new market, but from the outset we have had a good response, and we are indeed seeing manifest signs of a strong economic development in the region, says Jimmy Preben von Eggers Kjaersvold, Maersk Air Cargo director.
In Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, Maersk Air Cargo represents Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Maersk Air, South African Airways, and UPS.
Kjaersvold says 80 percent of their Baltic cargo is trucked into Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen, but interline agreements exist with Estonian Air, airBaltic, and Lithuanian Airlines for shipments adhering to the limits by aircraft types operated.
