MAY 14, 2003 (newstodate): On May 5, Malev Express, the subsidiary of Hungarian carrier Malev, launched a new route from Budapest to Split, Croatia.
The carrier is said to expect a traffic volume around 10,000 passengers on this route.
Malev Express was set up on July 11, 2002, and acquired two 50-seat CRJ200ER jets, along with options for another two of the extended-range jets.
Valued at some $40 million, the order doubled the number of CRJs ordered by Mal�v, which also holds options for a total of six of the airplanes, convertible to the 70-seat CRJ700 if the airline so chooses.
