MAY 20, 2003 (newstodate): With effect from next week, Polar Air Cargo plans to increase capacity on the routes Gothenburg-New York and Gothenburg-Chicago by introducing Boeing 747-400 freighters.
The -400F with max 115 tonnes payload will replace the -200F with 90-95 tonnes capacity.
-The change is our response to heavy demands for cargo capacity in the market, says Johnny Alfredsson, PALSWEDEN, Polar's Scandinavian GSA.
The Polar Air Cargo routes at Gothenburg are operated on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively.
The Saturday flight is routed Chicago-Prestwick-Gothenburg-New York, and the Sunday flight is routed New York-Prestwick-Gothenburg-Chicago.
