MAY 15, 2003 (newstodate): Low-cost operator Ryanair is planning to start operations from Kaunas, Lithuania, to Stockholm, Hamburg and Frankfurt.
-We are currently negotiating with Ryanair, but no documents have been signed yet, says Ruta Dalinskiene, Kaunas Airport marketing management.
-We will be visited by Ryanair in June or July, and if everything goes well we may start up with a route to Stockholm/Skavsta, she says.
According to Dalinskiene, next move may be to expand with a route to Frankfurt/Hahn, followed by a third route to London/Stansted.
A low-cost operator on the routes mentioned would entail enhanced competition in the market also served by Lithuanian Airlines, SAS and Lufthansa.
