MAY 13, 2003 (newstodate): SAS has announced its decision to relocate and concentrate the bulk of its aircraft maintenance at the Stockholm Arlanda base.
With the decision, all medium-heavy aircraft maintenance, currently distributed equally between the three bases in Copenhagen, Oslo and
Stockholm, will be concentrated at the new main base, which will also serve as the center for the strategic management for SAS Technical Services and its support functions.
Line maintenance will continue at the three bases, and heavy maintenance will remain at Oslo Gardermoen. SAS Technical Services will employ a total of about 2,700 employees in Norway, Denmark and Sweden.
The decision will make a total of 922 annual full-time positions redundant, comprising 436 annual positions in Denmark, 417 in Norway, and 69 in Sweden.
