JUN 02, 2003 (newstodate): IATA has bestowed its sixth annual "Eagle Awards" on a number of institutions and organisations.
Among this year's receivers of the award are Estonian Air Navigation Services, the ANS of the Czech Republic, Latvia's LGS, and Oro Navigacija of Lithuania.
The awards are IATA's recognition of special contributions by the receivers in order to ease the deep impact from the Iraq war, recession, Sept. 11 and other terrorist attacks, and SARS on the global aviation industry.
-Today's winners are good examples for others to follow. They have shown leadership in assisting the air transport industry during the worst crisis in its history. They have displayed the spirit of partnership that will be key to recovery. I salute the 2003 'Eagle' winners, says Giovanni Bisignani, IATA Director General & CEO.
