JUN 16, 2003 (newstodate): Copenhagen is seeing its vital transfer cargo volumes down by 19.1 percent in May, to 18,602 tonnes, leading to an aggregated fall in volumes at 12.1 percent, to 27.208 tonnes.
Transfer air cargo at Copenhagen have traditionally constituted more than 70 percent of the total volues, but has now dropped to 68.4 percent in May due to a declining Swedish market.
Another major factor contributing to the decline in transfer cargo is the changes in DHL Aviation's traffic system which has a strong effect on the airport's volumes.
In May, the airport's cargo imports were up 9.7 percent, and export were up by 6.9 percent to 3,386 and 5,220 tonnes, respectively.
During the period January-May, total volumes at Copenhagen Airport were down by 10.7 percent, to 136,031 tonnes. Again, transfer cargo was down by 15.3 percent, to 136,081 tonnes, or 79.9 percent of total volumes.
