JUN 19, 2003 (newstodate): In May, Gothenburg Airport had a two percent increase in total cargo volumes at 4,409 tonnes, breaking an otherwise negative trend this year.
In May, the airport saw imports up by 10 percent to 2,249 tonnes, while exports at 2,160 tonnes were down by five percent.
Last month total volumes were down by 13 percent.
For the period January-May, total volumes at 10,466 tonnes were down by five percent. also showing signs of slow recovery.
-Our growth in volumes is probably due to the resumed increase in frequency on the Japan Airlines, Lufthansa Cargo, SAS Cargo joint freighter to Osaka, and to Polar Air's introduction of Boeing 747-400 freighter rather han 747-200 freighter capacity, says Bjrn Lennertz, Gothenburg Airport marketing director.
