JUN 23, 2003 (newstodate): Korean Air Cargo has dedicated its Saturday-flight from Copenhagen to Seoul to the Scandinavian market, boosting capacity on the route.
-Till now both of the two weekly flights were shared with Amsterdam, but the Saturday flight, part of the route from Korea to USA and from there via Copenhagen to Korea, is now fully available in the Scandinavian market, increasing total weekly capacity from 100 to 170 tonnes, says Morten Lvstrand, WECO AirCargo - Korean's cargo GSA in the Nordics.
According to Mr Lvstrand, the potential of the new Saturday set-up is further boosted by a later departure time from Copenhagen, allowing for trucking of shipments from Sweden and Norway into Copenhagen in time to reach the flight that arrives in Seoul on Sunday with immediate transfer to Japan-bound onward flights.
The Korean Air Cargo Saturday flight arrives at Copenhagen with ex-Asian exports, and leaves with Norwegian salmon, Swedish electronics and Danish pharmaceuticals and ships spares.
-The bulk of the total Korean Air Cargo shipments from Copenhagen consists of Norwegian and Danish exports, while the Swedish market remains in a sustained economic downturn, Mr Lvstrand says.
