JUN 05, 2003 (newstodate): Slovakian low-cost airline, SkyEurope Airlines is looking for a partner that might be interested in re-marketing the airline's belly capacity.
-Like other low-cost operators, we are currently not carrying cargo on our international routes due to short turn-around times, while the payload issue would also limit us on these sectors, says Pavol Mlad, SkyEurope Airlines Commercial Manager.
-We do, however, carry express freight in the belly of our EMB-120 on the domestic route between Bratislava and Kosice, linking western and eastern part of country, for all major express and courier services, including DHL, UPS, TNT and some local courier services like Remax or Lindbergh Express. This allows them to offer overnight delivery and outbound shipments same day when collected also for Eastern Slovakia, he says.
Still, marketing of excess belly-hold capacity would generate a new source of revenue and support passenger operations, he says.
To service the airline's 11 destinations, SkyEurope's fleet consists of three Embraer 120ER aircraft, and the airline plans to add more aircraft, including a Boeing 737-500 to serve routes to London or Paris.
