JUN 19, 2003 (newstodate): From 1 June to 31 October 2003, Vienna Airport will reduce its landing charges by 60 percent for long-haul operations.
The decision is a measure to curb the negative trend in the airport's passenger traffic figures that went down by 1.1 percent in May.
The airport's traffic dropped sharply by 33.3 percent to the Far East, by 16.1 percent to the Near and Middle East, and by 9.5 percent to North America. This development also affected the transfer segment, which reported 5.9 percent lower passenger volumes.
The airport estimates the total costs of this measure to accrue to about 2.6 million euro during the period.
