JUL 14, 2003 (newstodate): Vidas Zvinys has been named new CEO of Lithuanian Airlines.
In January-June, the airline carried a total of 132,000 passengers on scheduled flights in the first half of 2003, up seven percent on last year.
After SAS' decision to withdraw its bid on the airline this spring, the future for Lithuanian Airlines remains uncertain, though.
Zvinys told the press that it is difficult to predict if LAL would remain the leading player in the Lithuanian air market after the country's admission to the European Union in 2004.
-It is possible that a number of new companies will come to the Lithuanian market, including low-fare carriers, he said.
