AUG 29, 2003 (newstodate): With effect from October 31, Air China and United Airlines will form a marketing alliance and code-share a number of flights between China and USA.
Under the agreement, the two airlines will share airport lounges and cooperate on frequent flyer-programs.
Together, the two airlines will offer 26 non-stop code-sharing flights per week.
Air China, however, declines that this is a step towards membership of the Star Alliance, where United is a founder member.
-It is still not time for Air China to make decisions on joining an international alliance, thogh we have been thinking of it, Li Jiaxiang, Air China ceo, said.
