AUG 19, 2003 (newstodate): Finnair plans to turn the Swedish airline Nordic Airlink into "the leading budget airline in the Nordic countries", the company says in a release.
The anouncement is made in connection with Finnair's acquisition of 85 percent in the shares in the Swedish airline.
Nordic Airlink operates six aircraft, SAAB 340 and MD-80, which are used for scheduled flights between Stockholm and Lule�, as well as charter and regional operations.
The airline is expected to carry 200,000 passengers this year, with turnover rising to some SEK 240 million (25.9 million euro). Nordic Airlink will be expanding its flight network in the autumn.
