AUG 08, 2003 (newstodate): Icelandair Cargo is seeing little effect in the market after Air Greenland's start of operations at Akureyri this summer.
-Air Greenland carry little air cargo, and we do not notice them very much in the Icelandic market, says Petur Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
Eiriksson says Air Greenland is operating in Iceland on 7th freedom rights as a non-Danish airline, and rights have been granted on a six-months basis, to expire by the end of the year.
-Icelandic authorities have applied for similar rights for Icelandic operators from Denmark or Greenland, but so far without success, Eiriksson says.
Denmark has not been willing to include Greenland in the bi-lateral agreements with Iceland, but talks will continue in Reykjavik later this months.
