AUG 13, 2003 (newstodate): During the period January-June, Icelandair Cargo managed to up its profits by no less than 156 percent, to ISK 62 million, compared to a loss of ISK 98 during the same period last year.
During the first six months Icelandair Cargo carried 13,500 tonns of cargo compared to 14,300 the year before - down by 5 percent.
Imports to Iceland grew by one percent, and exports by 14 percent. There was a "considerable" decline in US-Europe traffic that was met with a cut in capacity.
-The company is forecasting strong 3rd and 4th quarters fuelled by strong growth in exports from Iceland and modest growth in imports, says Petur J Eiriksson, Icelandair Cargo managing director.
