SEP 29, 2003 (newstodate): The Danish CAA has met with air cargo trucking company Haugsted, but the meeting has not produced any changes in the authorities' view on the security issues involved.
-Haugsted's cargo trucking services are performed at impeccable standards, but we must underline that Haugsted cannot provide any services that distinguish it from any other freight forwarder, says Jessi Johnsen, Danish CAA chief inspector security.
A debate is raging over whether Haugsted can act as "cargo handling company" for airline customers at its off-airport location.
-If Haugsted wants to play the role as cargo handling agents, their only option is to set up a new company inside an airport's security fences, Johnsen says.
-It is not for the Danish CAA to decide which role Haugsted is to play. This is solely an issue between an airport, Haugsted itself, and the potential airline customers it may attract, Johnsen says.
