SEP 10, 2003 (newstodate): In August, Norwegian-owned low-cost carrier Sterling continues it strong build-up in the market, reaching a 37 percent growth in passenger figures.
The carrier, reportedly engaged in sell-off activities, has seen its passenger figures for the first eight months up by 40 percent, to 885.000 passengers.
Sterling has signed contracts for delivery of another two Boeing 737s by May 2004. From this winter, the airline will introduce larger aircraft in exchange for two smaller Boeings, leased from Maersk Air, and the airline will then have 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
More aircraft are planned to be added "within soon" to cope with increases in demand.
