SEP 29, 2003 (newstodate): In the first six months of 2003, Sweden's export air cargo volumes on IATA carriers dropped by 6.7 percent, to 43,589 tonnes.
During the same period, gross turn-over dipped even more by 9.2 percent, to SEK 1,029 million, indicating a waning market after some cautious signs of recovery.
Air cargo exports to the North American markets fared comparatively well, however, up 4.7 percent and maintaining the No 1 position with 45.3 percent of total exports, primarily thanks to the Finnair Cargo freighter routes between New York and Gothenburg.

Traditionally, Sweden's IATA air cargo exports comprised more than 50 percen of the total Scandinavian volumes. This percentage has now dropped to 45.5 percent during January-June, 2003.
