SEP 29, 2003 (newstodate): US airline World Airways has secured a contract worth 126 million USD for the fiscal year 2004 with the USAF Air Mobility Command.
This represents an increase of 68 percent compared to last years USD 75 million fixed passenger award. The FY 2004 AMC contract will take effect on October 1, 2003.

World Airways has specialised in airlift of US military personnel, and the current huge increase in contract volume is driven by the US engagement in global anti-terrorist activities and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The new airlift contract does not include long-term expansion flying or cargo components. These missions will be included along with normal ad-hoc expansion business solicited by Air Mobility Command throughout the coming fiscal year, the company says in a release.
