JAN 23, 2004 (newstodate): Effective from January 13, Cargolux has added a third freighter service through Istanbul en-route to Hong Kong from Luxembourg.
Cargolux has served Istanbul since September 1992, considering Istanbul the biggest market in exports and imports in the Near East and rising fast over the recent years.
Value of goods from Turkey has increased 20-30 percent, and the Turkish Ministry of Economics predicts a doubling of the exports until 2010.
On its flights to Istanbul, Cargolux carries mainly general cargo, while textile and automotive spare parts constitute the bulk of the exports out of Istanbul.
Cargolux also operates a fast service on the route Istanbul-Hong Kong. The carrier has obtained fifth freedom rights for one weekly flight from Istanbul to Hong Kong, and an additional Hong Kong-Istanbul service will be introduced by the end of February, the company says.
