JAN 06, 2004 (newstodate): Latvian forwarding company SPEDAIR rounded off 2003 with "exceptionally" good and promising results, the company says.
-Not all the 2003 figures are updated and analysed yet, but I may say that cargo volumes have grown by 86 percent compared to 2002, says Inga Brasla, SPEDAIR sales manager.
-However in comparison with 2001, the growth in volumes is only some 17 percent as we all suffered from the industrial crisis after the Sept. 11 event, she says.
-In 2003 SPEDAIR's turnover has grown by some 37 percent, mainly due to large volumes of export textile shipments. It is hard to predict if the same level will be reached this year, but so far it has started off well with extensive booking figures, says Mrs Brasla.
-This year's big event will unquestionably be Latvia's entry into the EU, which will probably spur large increases in both imports and exports, she says.
