JAN 16, 2004 (newstodate): Manas International Airport in Kyrgyz Republic can now handle all types of aircraft.
Manas offers the region's longest runway at 4,300 metres, and by the end of last year the airport completed a USD 1.2 million upgrade of its aircraft parking area, including construction of five additional parking stands for aircraft in the 400+ tonnes category like the AN-124, AN-224 and Boeing 747-400.
Offering 24-7 services without any restrictions on noise or landing procedures, the airport is now seeking to attract international cargo operators' attention as a technical fuel stop en-route between Europe and the Far East.
As part of this, the airport has invested heavily in upgrading its airport security systems.
