JAN 06, 2004 (newstodate): Beginning from the coming summer programme, SN Brussels Airlines is planning to open new routes from Brussels to Moscow and St Petersburg.
The route to Moscow five times weekly will be operated with the airline's new Airbus A319 aircraft, and the route to St Petersburg twice weekly will be operated with Avro RJ85 aircraft.
-Based on market demands, it is a strategy by SN Brussels Airlines to expand further into the former East European and Russian/CIS regions, says Geert Sciot, SN Brusels Airlines vp communication.
-When routes are thin, we prefer to enter code-share agreements with other airlines as in the case of our route to Vilnius, operated in cooperation with Lithuanian Airlines, and to Kiev, operated in cooperation with Ukrainean Airlines. But when warranted by the market, we operate the routes ourselves as in the cases of Budapest and Prague, he says.
-Being the center of Europe with many EU institutions, Brussels becomes increasingly attractive as a destination for new member states and other nations in the region, so we will definitely add more destinations in the former Eastern Europe and beyond as needs arise, says Mr Sciot.
