OCT 15, 2004 (newstodate): Despite being a staunch Boeing aircraft-operator for years, Czech Airlines CSA eventually opted for Airbus' A320 family for its new medium-range aircraft.
CSA currently operates a fleet of 43 aircraft, including 28 Boeing 737 aircraft, but decided to place its order for 12 new aircraft with Airbus after a close run-up between the two aircraft manufacturers.
The new aircraft will be delivered to CSA by 2006-2008, but the airline will take in three Airbus A320 and two A319 early next summer already, based on a lease arrangement to cope with traffic demands in the period till the new aircraft enter service.
