OCT 07, 2004 (newstodate): Commercial airlines and the freight forwarding industry are facing a unique opportunity facilitated by commitment to Cargo 2000.
-Only during the last two weeks I have been in contact with two large companies that decided to leave their cooperation with integrators, turning instead to working with commercial airlines and freight forwarders, said Guenter Rohrmann, DHL COO global customer solutions, at yesterday's Cargo 2000 Rollout in Frankfurt.
-In many ways airlines and forwarders can offer a better service to logistics customers than hub-to-hub integrators. The reason is clearly enhanced quality. This is indeed a tremendous opportunity for this industry, he said.
-But Cargo 2000 is crucial to exploit this situation as there is a high demand on quality, data and documentation. Also we must bring automation to the table, as imbedded in Cargo 2000.
