NOV 16, 2004 (newstodate): Boeing has decided to launch a freighter version of its Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
No launch customer has yet been announced, but the company plans to make the freighter available for service by Q4, 2005.
Boeing claims the 777 Freighter will fly farther than any other freighter and will provide more capacity than any twin-engine cargo airplane.
The 777 Freighter will have a revenue payload capability of 101 tonnes, and will accommodate 27 standard pallets on its main deck and 10 in its lower cargo hold.
Its maximum range will be 9,630 km with the lowest trip cost of any large freighter, meeting QC2 noise standards for maximum accessibility to noise-sensitive airports.
