NOV 05, 2004 (newstodate): Atlantic Airways cannot recognise the situation described in yesterday's newstodate-story on scarce cargo capacity between Denmark and the Faroe Islands.
-Actually we still have under-utilised cargo capacity on our afternoon flights, and all shipments booked on Atlantic Airways have flown as booked, says Magni Arge, Atlantic Airways CEO.
To provide added cargo capacity, the company has converted one aircraft to accomodate cabin container by removing passenger seats in the front part of the cabin.
-This adds capacity, and the cargo rates are quite satisfactory. But considering the loss of revenue passengers incurred by the conversion it still remains to be seen if this is a viable solution in the longer term, says Mr Arge.
-If we find it difficult to meet demands during the coming Christmas season we will consider increasing frequencies further, or implementing other measures as we will definitely live up to our commitments to the market. But so far I see no reason to take further action, says Magni Arge.
