NOV 26, 2004 (newstodate): Danish freight airline Star Air, a fully-owned Maersk Air subsidiary, has announced a complete aircraft fleet renewal.
Today, the airline operates three Boeing 757-200 against eight only a few years ago.
From 2005 Star Air will take in a total of 11 converted Boeing 767-200 freighters on a lease agreement with GECAS.
The first Boeing 767-200 will start operations in early March, 2005, the second aircraft will join by April, and the remaining aircraft will be delivered sucessively until May, 2006, when the last of the batch arrives.
Star Air operates European routes for UPS based at Cologne Airport, and has obtained a new long-term contract with this client.
Excess capacity beyond the needs of UPS will be sold to other customers, primarily for operations in Europe.
